The Federal Radon Action Plan

The Federal Radon Action Plan was drafted by the EPA and the HUD’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control (OHHLHC) together with Federal Agency representatives.

The Plan was released to the public by EPA at the 2011 National Healthy Homes conference. A primary goal was the incorporation of radon detection and mitigation into HUD programs. The Office of Multifamily Development performed a review of industry practices for the detection of radon and remediation. The Plan outlines best practices for Multifamily Housing Insurance to improve the health and safety of residents while avoiding excessive demands on project development.

Volatile Organic Compounds in Commercial Properties

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in breathing zones of commercial properties is a serious issue. Previously, VOC concerns have been limited to the cleanup of soil and groundwater. Now measures are taken in accordance with the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.
